The Council for Licensed Conveyancers (CLC) is the regulatory body for Licensed Conveyancers who are qualified specialist property lawyers. All conveyancing - essentially the legal processes involved in transferring buildings and/or land from one owner to another and dealing with the financial transactions was the sole responsibility of solicitors until 1987. The Council has 15 members, made up of 8 elected Licensed Conveyancers and 7 nominated by other professional and governmental organisations.
A Licensed Conveyancers is a specialist property lawyer, someone who is trained and qualified in all aspects of the law dealing with property.
Entry Requirement Conveyancing is about transferring the ownership of a house, flat or piece of land from one person to another is known as conveyancing. Legally anyone can do it for themselves, if they have the necessary time, knowledge and confidence.
4 GCSE passes (or equivalent) in English Language and 3 other approved subjects at A, B, or C.
However, mature students over 25 years without qualifications may be accepted with relevant practical experience. Law graduates can apply for exemption from equivalent subjects.

Examinations are held twice a year, in January and June and all registered students automatically receive an entry form for notification of the examinations, irrespective of whether they wish to sit the examination.
Job Prospect. After successfully completing the examinations and fulfilling the practical training requirements, a student is eligible to apply for a licence in employment for a further 3 years. Only after this period can a licence holder apply for a full licence, to be able to offer conveyancing services directly to the public, as a sole practitioner, partner with another Licensed Conveyancers, or through a Limited Company (Recognised Body) - http://www.clc-uk.org
The decision to approve a full licence rests solely with the Licence and Practice Committee, which interviews the applicant after receiving information for setting up with a Business Plan and Cash Flow Forecast.
